Read your work. Re-read your work. Ask a peer to read your work (and say yes when they ask you to read theirs). Use the editing tool in Word. ALWAYS use the editing tool in Word before you submit work.
I really like Grammarly. A lot. It has helped me learn about errors I make repeatedly. I still miss them sometimes, but I'm learning.
But the robots are not perfect. A short story:
Once upon a time, I was writing something. I had a line in the text that read, "I am sorry about the challenges you will face in the process..." or something like that. Grammarly edited it to read, "I am sorry about your face."
I did not accept that change. I did laugh for a long time about it. Still do.
Proofread. C'mon now. You're doctoral students, after all.
